On Being Dead, and Getting Pumped for Oscar Movie Season

LISTEN: The Austin Chronicle Show on KOOP Radio

On this week's episode of The Austin Chronicle Show on 91.7 FM, we use fall festival season as a jumping-off point for exploring bands and movies we're excited about.

First up, Music Editor Kevin Curtin talks about his time interviewing the band Being Dead – they're the ones photographer David Brendan Hall caught in full armor for this week's cover. In the second half of the show, Culture Editor Richard Whittakar shares recommendations for what to catch at Austin Film Festival, and then he and I basically movie-nerd-out for 10 minutes about everything hitting movie theatres and streaming services in the next couple of months.

For copyright issues, we've had to strip out all the music from this rebroadcast. Listen along to Being Dead's side project, Zero Percent APR, which Kevin and I talk about at length: zeropercentapr.bandcamp.com.

Want to catch the show live next time? Tune in Fridays, 6pm, to KOOP 91.7 FM or livestream the show at koop.org.
